Looking for the best countertop water dispenser of 2018?
Well, that is the Big Berkey countertop Water filter dispenser. It’s not really a competition to be quite honest. This article will still explain everything you need to know about countertop water dispensers. We’ll also share some other good choices.

Purchasing one of these systems is not that complicated of a decision. Just because it’s simple does not mean you should be uninformed though. Bad stuff happens when we do that.
Here are some things to consider before purchasing a countertop dispenser:
This is the most important consideration for most people. The dispensers start at around $75 for the budget choice. If you want to spend less, then a normal water pitcher is probably the best option.
- Amount of Use
You also have to consider how much water you will drink. If you’re living alone, then you will need a smaller one than a family four. Unless you drink a lot of water, which you should.
- Water Treatment Needed
All countertop water dispensers have a filter that can remove the contaminants that make your water taste bad. It will not remove the contaminants that make the water dangerous to drink.
So, if you have arsenic or bacteria in your water, then you want a reverse osmosis system.
- Countertop Space
You will need some room on your counter to add the system. If you don’t have the space or a counter, then you can use an under the sink water filter.
Types of Countertop Water Dispensers
There are actually 4 different types of countertop water dispensers. They are the following:
- Gravity Dispeners
These rely on gravity pushing water through the filtration device. This is the same concept as a normal water filter pitcher. However, the unit is placed on the countertop.
- Faucet Filters
These are those filters that you attach to your faucet. You have the option of using tap water or filtered water. However, you can use filtered water to do your dishes if you want.
It’s actually a good idea if you have hard water.
- Countertop Alkaline Filters
Alkaline water filters work by adjusting the pH level of the water. They also will remove contaminants. Consumer versions always go on the countertop because of the process.
Best Countertop Water Dispensers– Reviews
Gravity Filter: Big Berkey Water Dispenser
Berkey Water Filters is a top-end water filtration company. They have quite the reputation for making only high-end water filters. Their countertop water dispenser is no different.
First of all, it is super easy to use. You just pour the water in the holding container. When you use the dispenser you then get filtered water. Easy.
The holding container is also made of stainless steel, which makes it great for those of you that don’t want to worry about plastic leaking into your clean water supply. Sure, all the plastic is BPA free nowadays… but are chemicals still seaping into your world.
You don’t need to worry about that with the Big Berkey.
This also removes fluoride too. So if your municipality adds fluoride to your water. Well, then you do not have anything more to worry about. The fluoride filter alone makes the Big Berkey the best choice for a countertop water filter that removes fluoride. It also removes other contaminants too such as chlorine, which makes the water taste great.
Gravity Filter: Santevia Water Dispenser
We still recommend the Big Berkey for everyone. However, not everyone wants to spend that kind of money on a water filtration system. So, we added a few other options that are more budget friendly.
The first option is the Santevia Filter. This is another gravity countertop filter and it’s still great. It removes fluoride and arsenic just like the Big Berkey. It just does not come in a fancy stainless steel container. This means it might not look as good on your counter.
That said, it is still not bad looking. It will still look great on your countertop. The Big Berkey just looks much better in our opinion. The plastic is BPA free by the way. A definite advantage of clear plastic is that you can easily tell when the water filter is empty or almost empty.
Sinktop Dispenser: CleanWater4Less Sink Filter
First, yes we know the name is terrible. It sounds like something from the dot-com era. Anyway, now that I got that off my chest.
This is the best sinktop filter on the market. Do not let the name scare you off. It is less expensive than the other options on the list, yet it offers so much. You can filter up to 10,000 gallons of water…
Yes. 10,000 gallons of water. That means you can go years without changing this filter. Obviously, you should change it out frequently because you’re just drinking so much water, but you get the point.
This means you don’t really have to worry about changing the filter. Take that Brita Pitcher.
Just as the (terrible) company name suggests, you do not have to pay much money for this filter. In fact, this is one of the better priced ones on the list. I personally find it more convenient to use a sinktop filter system than a gravity filter, but that’s just me.
Sinktop systems do not even require tools to install like an under the sink solution. This makes it my favorite type of water filter.
Sinktop Filter: Home Master TMJRF2E
Another sinktop option for you. This one is a little cheaper than the CleanWater4Less filter. I’m telling you, I love these type of filters.
This one does require some installation, which makes it a little bit more difficult. It still removes a bunch of different nasty stuff that appears in your water. You know, the usual bad stuff like fluoride, heavy metals, arsenic, and chlorine. The normal stuff you find in United States water supply.
The Home Master TMJRF2E is definitely a good choice for those of you on a budget that still are concerned with your water quality. Even if you have good quality water; it still has chlorine and arsenic in it. So you should use a water filter to remove it and the TMJRF2E does just that.
Countertop Reverse Osmosis Dispenser: ZIP by Puricom
Reverse Osmosis is the best way to filter water. It is actually so effective at removing contaminants that calcium and magnesium are added back into the water. That is because calcium and magnesium are good for humans.
Arsenic is not.
The ZIP water filter brings all the benefits of the reverse osmosis system to your countertop. There is no need to buy a whole house reverse osmosis system or anything like that. We did some reviews on those if you want to buy one though.
A countertop reverse osmosis system has a few advantages. First, it requires no installation. You just plug it in and pour water into it. After a few hours you will have the most pure water you have ever tasted.
Next, they’re much less expensive. Actually, this is probably a bigger advantage than the first one. Most people do not purchase a reverse osmosis system because it is too expensive. That is not a problem with the countertop model. Well, it’s still expensive, not going to lie. It’s just less expensive.
Finally, this system just looks good. If you have sleek and modern kitchen… basically something out of an HGTV magazine, then this system will look great in your kitchen.
Seriously, if I had a nice and modern kitchen, then I’d buy this system just to complete the look. Just look how great it looks.
Countertop Reverse Osmosis: APEC Portable Water Filter
This is another budget friendly option for those that need a reverse osmosis. Actually, this is THE budget option for anyone that wants a reverse osmosis system in their home. You can easily use this system in your home or apartment.
No installation. No complicated setup. Just plug it in and it is ready to go.
It is somewhat small, so it’s only recommended for one person. It works especially well for someone living in an apartment.
The one disadvantage is that it is kind of ugly. It will filter your water though, so that’s nice. If you have a well-designed kitchen, then it might diminish the quality of the kitchen a bit.
Countertop Alkaline Water Filter: Invigorated Water Alkaline Water Machine
Now, if you want a water alkalized and filter, then this is the best choice. Alkalized water tastes the same and has no negative effects, so it is worth it to use one in your product. This particular model costs under $100, which makes it a great choice for anyone on a budget.
An alkaline water filter will remove chlorine and fluoride from your water. Of course it also adjusts the pH of the water.
You can’t go wrong with any of the options listed here. Our personal preference here at Water Purificiation Hub is a sinktop water dispenser. It is still highly visible and provides aqequate filtration.
These systems also come at a great price. One important thing to note is that all of these options take up space on the counter. Some of you might think this is bad.
However, if your goal is to drink more water, then all of these options provide a great reminder to drink more water. Sure, a water filter pitcher might not take up counter space, but will you remember to drink water.
It is buried in your refrigerator and out of your sight. This makes it that much more likely that you will forget to drink your 8 glasses of water per day.
