Water distillation is one of the best ways to filter water. In fact, it can remove most contaminants found in water. The only contaminants that it cannot remove are the ones that have a lower boiling point than water.

Pure Water Mini-Classic CT Counter Top Distiller

Anyway, this review will cover the Pure Water Mini-Classic Counter Top Distiller. We will cover the features, what we like, what we don’t like, and then give our final verdict.

I’ll give you a hint. We recommend purchasing this system, but only for the right person. Read on to find out why.

Water distillers aren’t a feature rich type of system. However, they do have enough features that we can list out the important ones. Here is a short list of those features:

  • Dimensions: Height: 15.7”. Width: 13.75”. Depth: 9.88”
  • Product Weight: 24 pounds
  • Container Size:8 gallons
  • Time to filter one container:5 hours.
  • Power Usage: 800 watts, 120V, 6.9 amps.
  • Warranty: 15 years for the stainless steel. 2 years for electrical.
  • Made in America

What We Like

We have a lot of different things that we like about this system. First, it can make distilled water at a relatively fast pace (0.8 gallons/3.5 hours). That rate might sound slow, but in the world of water distillers it is actually slightly faster than normal.

This unit is a countertop unit. It definitely is small enough to fit on a countertop. However, this is not super small or anything. It is still kind of big, so make sure that you have a decent sized counter before purchasing this. If you live in a tiny studio apartment with a tiny kitchen, then this system might not work well for you.

The power usage is actually pretty low. You can expect each gallon of water to cost about $1 in electricity. The actual price will vary based on your electricity costs.

Even if the water costs more money, the distilled water has no contact with plastic. Something that you can’t say about the distilled water you purchase at the grocery store. This is one important factor that you should keep in mind before skipping over this purchase.

Anyway, Pure Water has a 15 year warranty for the stainless steel on the product. Honestly, I would be surprised if you encountered any issues with the stainless steel within 15 years. Stainless steel is just such a durable metal that it doesn’t have those type of issues. The electrical components might pose more issues because water and electricity are a bad combination. They give you a 2 year warranty on the electrical components.

Also, this system is made in the USA. We really like that and it’s not something that we see very often.

Finally, the maintenance on this system is pretty much non-existent. You only have to clean out the sediment from the bottom of the condensing unit every month and that’s it. Super easy.

What We Don’t Like

There really isn’t much that we don’t like. The only big complaint we have is the price. That is somewhat expected because of the high quality of the machine (it’s made in America) and the warranty.

Other than that there isn’t anything that we don’t like.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this have a timer?
It doesn’t have a timer. However, it has an auto shutoff feature.
Will this make my house steamy or hot?
No. The steam is all contained within the system.
Will this remove fluoride?
How big is the boiling chamber?
It is 1 gallon. However, a little water is lost during the distillation process. This leads to getting 0.8 gallons of distilled water per use.
Does this have a carbon filter?
Yes. This carbon filter is used after distillation to help improve taste. It is not required.
What is the condensing made of?
The condensing coil is made of 304 stainless steel.
Can this be used with well water?
Yes. It might leave more mineral deposits because of the large amount of minerals in well water, which means you will have to clean it more frequently.
How loud is this?
It’s not a quiet system. The main feature that makes it so loud is the fan and dripping. It’s like having a leaky faucet.

Final Verdict

All in all, this is an excellent water distiller. We recommend it assuming you have a bigger budget.
